Gadgets with DISAPPOINTING REMOTE CONTROLS #1: The Pure Chronos II DAB radio/iPod dock
How’s this for a new idea for a thing to do ?
Imagine how gutted you’d be. The initial joy of that CRISP, clear digital LCD clock would be smashed into a thousand pieces when you finally fish that sorry excuse of a remote control out of the bottom of the box. It’s such a rubbish remote, you might almost throw it away thinking it’s just a bit of padding.
There’s potential for at least three Gadgets with DISAPPOINTING REMOTE CONTROLS updates before we get bored of it and forget all about it.

I can’t be bothered to find you any pictures I’m afraid, but the Humax Foxsat HD box has an incredibly cheap looking remote. Nice looking box, shit looking remote.
It’s annoying because it’s the remote you use most often. It works well enough, just don’t look at it. It’s doubly annoying because, like a fool I ‘early adopted’ and couldn’t be bothered waiting for the PVR version. Now the PVR version is out I notice that it has a drastically improved remote

They should have just included a rock to throw when you’re done listening.

the Lite On DD-A110 DVD recorder has a similarly gash remote. it’s basically the same flat piece of shit as the Pure one only it’s black and silver, it has more buttons on it and doesn’t bloody work most of the time.

I have a fantastically shit one that came with the Tesco’s portable DVD player that I foolishly bought for 45 quid, whilst drunk. It must have cost Thruppence, in old money, to make.

I don’t get why this is a rubbish remote. I suddenly feel even more alone than usual.

Those buttons are just moulded plastic. It’s the classic cheap remote you get with most low-end audio equipment. Makes me think of entry-level Creative surround sound set-ups aimed at “gamers”.

I agree. It’s pure shit.

Why does my £100+ Iblik have a shit remote too?
