Gadgets with FACES #151: A 400 Watt Power Dome Mini Generator
The idea is you charge it up at home, and can then spend your entire camping holiday in the tent on the internet while your partner goes on walks to look at trees and funny kinds of mushrooms.

After a couple of nights you will inevitably get bored and start mucking about with that clamp. On low DC voltages it might be quite pleasant. More details, including a depressingly dull rear shot, here.

I'm having a go at camping for the first time, soon. I might get one of these, it's cheery face looks to have moody-improving qualities. That'll be useful what with the torrential rain, subsequent universe of mud and inevitable issues with shotgun wielding local madmen/farmers.
I bought a 40-Lumen 20 L.E.D. lantern with infra red on/off capacity from Aldi yesterday. My guess is that 1000 Lumens = 1 glimmer. That'd make the quality about level with the usual Aldi 'special offer' items.

You're going into the wild outdoors and depending on something you got from Aldi?
I knew everyone here had a death wish, but that's akin to actual suicide.

40 lumens from 20 LEDs? Are they all broken?

I haven't tried it yet. It takes 'D' batteries, and I don't have any rechargable Dees. And they're expensive if you expect them to last more than 6 minutes
Hmmm *brouses 'Lumen'*… Hmmm… 1 Candela = 4pi Lumens. A candela is apparently equivalent to a common household candle. So 1 Candle = 12.5664 Lumens. So my Aldi larntern is shit. Me and my family are going to be anally raped and killed, and it's clearly entirely Aldi's fault.

I need to read what I've typed BEFORE I post it. BEFORE. 'Brouses'? WTF?

I'm going camping soon too. Or at least, the wife is and I'm having to go along too. Ergo*, this seems quite tempting for precisely the reasons Idiot gives.
Regarding the remote control lantern Badben – a cheap remote control lantern sounds like a good idea at first, not having to get up to switch the light off at night, but wait until you're in a campsite with a load of other people who all bought the same cheap remote control lantern – you switch your light on/off and all neighbours lanterns within a few metres goes on/off too.
They then hit their remote and yours switches on/off, along with any of their other neighbours within range. This can go on for a while until either by sheer luck everyones lights end up as they want them, like one of those 'lights out' puzzle games or until someone removes the batteries or kicks the bloody thing out of the tent…
*you're not the only one, weatherbox

I own one of these. I'm not upset that I didn't think of it has having a face…
